The Oran track and field team fared the best among local schools as the Eagles placed fifth and seventh overall in the boys and girls divisions, respectively, at the Class 1 District 1 meet at Lutheran High School in St. Peters, Missouri.

Oran's Addie Kielhofner was the lone local runner to place first in any event at Saturday's 15-team district meet. The senior standout finished with a time of 49.08 seconds to clinch the gold in the 300 hurdles for the Eagles. The Eagles also took second, third and fourth places in the 800, 3,200 and 1,600 relays, respectively. Toni Hency placed third in the shot put with a distance of 30 feet, 1/2 inch to round out the list of sectional qualifiers for the Oran girls team.

Delta sophomore Jamie Hodge also posted sectional-qualifying fourth-place times in the 1,600 and 3,200 runs as the Bobcats tied the Missouri School for the Deaf for 10th place overall in the team standings.

On the boys' side, Oran sophomore Brett Ressel took second and third place in the triple jump and long jump for the Eagles. Jake Taylor finished fourth in the 400 dash and joined Montana Taylor, Jake Below and Nick Below in the 1,600 and 3,200 relays to lead the Eagles to third and fourth places in those events.

Delta's Alex Lashley qualified for the sectional meet in the discus and shot put events. The Bobcats' senior threw 121-10 to take second in the discus and 39-10 3/4 in the shot put for Delta, which finished 10th overall and one point ahead of Scott County Central. Cameron Blissett and Juwan Owens led the Braves to second and third place in the high jump, and Scott County Central placed one point ahead of Zalma.
