Oran volleyball defeats Chaffee

Oran climbed within a game of the .500 mark on Wednesday night by beating Chaffee 25-11, 25-13 in Chaffee.

Amanda Eftink led Oran (6-7-1) in kills with five. Courtney Nenninger added seven blocks and three kills.

Notre Dame 25-25 St. Vincent 11-20

Notre Dame made defeated St. Vincent at home.

Amber Karnes had 13 assists for the Bulldogs, while Amanda Essner contributed five kills and seven blocks. Lauren Mehner led the defensive charge on her birthday, leading the team in digs.

JV -- Notre Dame won in three sets.

SOFTBALL Chaffee 8, Shawnee 7

Chaffee's offense pounded out 17 hits to help the Red Devils bounce back two losses on Tuesday.

Mindy Hendrix had four hits, including a triple and an RBI.

Chaffee scored six runs in the fourth inning to take a 6-3 lead but fell behind 7-6 and scored two runs in the sixth for the win.

Kelly improved to 15-5 by shutting out host Dongola.

Hawks pitcher Kelly Essner was perfect through five innings and allowed only a hit and a walk in the final two frames.

Whitney Beggs had three hits to lead the Kelly offense.

• The Central junior varsity soccer team (4-1) beat St. Pius 5-0 on the road with the help of two goals and an assist from Matt Hester. Matt Compass, Ben Patrick and Brook Osborne each scored a goal and had an assist in the win. Tyler McNabb chipped in an assist.
