MARBLE HILL, Mo. — The Oran baseball team continued its dominant streak, maintaining an unblemished record of 5-0 with a resounding 14-0 victory at Woodland (2-1) on Thursday, September 7.
“It was a good team win,” said Oran coach Joe Bickings. “We were able to break through in the third inning after seeing their lefty on the mound that was deceiving to our hitters a few times. Parker Bryant and Rolen Heuring were pumping strikes on the mound and our defense made the plays when we needed to.”
Oran swiftly took control of the game, establishing a 2-0 lead in the first inning as Kole Burger capitalized on an error to score, followed by Rylan Mills crossing home plate on a ground out.
The Eagles’ advantage expanded to 3-0 in the second inning when Burger’s single brought Brenden Campbell home.
The third inning witnessed an offensive surge, propelling the team to a commanding 14-0 lead.
Gabe Dirnberger’s single drove in Mills and Carson Kern’s home run scored Dirnberger and Bryant.
Nathan Pobst added to the tally with a run scored on ground out. Mills continued his standout performance, singling to bring in both Tyler Brashears and Nolan Loper, while Dirnberger’s double further contributed by bringing in Mills and Bryant.
Dirnberger himself crossed home plate on a bases-loaded walk, and Cooper Senciboy’s single sealed the scoring by bringing home Kern.
Bryant earned the win on the mound after three innings. He allowed no earned runs on two hits with five strikeouts.
Rolen Heuring pitched the final inning for Oran and earned a strikeout.
Conner Rhodes took the loss after allowing four earned runs on nine hits with one strikeout and three walked batters.
Oran hosted Leopold (0-4) on Friday, September 8 and will also host Bernie (6-1) on Monday, September 11.
Woodland will travel to Bernie on Thursday, September 14.
