Returning to the diamond, the Oran baseball team has seamlessly picked up where they left off, kicking off the fall season with a 4-0 start.
The Eagles have a long-standing reputation as a Class 1 powerhouse, it’s evident the team is poised to maintain their dominance on the field.
Oran started the season at the Bank of Grandin Classis on August 26, winning 11-0 over Alton (0-4) and 17-4 over East Carter (1-3).
Against Alton, Gabe Dirnberger and Cooper Senciboy combined to throw a five-inning no-hitter. Dirnberger pitched four innings with five strikeouts and Senciboy pitched the final inning.
The team’s offensive stars were Kole Burger (3-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs), Nolan Loper (2-for-2 with two runs), Parker Bryant (2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and one run), Dirnberger (2-for-3 with three RBIs) and Carson Kern (2-for-3 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs).
Against East Carter, the team’s top players at the plate were Burger (2-for-3 with a double, four RBIs and one run), Rylan Mills (2-for-2 with two doubles, an RBI and three runs), Dirnberger (2-for-4 with a double, a home run, two RBIs and two runs), Kern (2-for-3 with two runs), Brenden Campbell (2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs) and Senciboy (2-for-3 with two RBIs and one run).
Bryant earned the win on the mound after three innings, allowing two no earned runs on one hit with six strikeouts. Loper threw the final two innings, surrendering one earned run on one hit with three strikeouts.
Oran’s home opener on Tuesday, August 29 proved to be a dominant display of skill and teamwork as the team won 15-0 over Advance (0-2) in four innings.
The Eagles’ top contributors at the plate were Mills (2-for-4 with a double, four RBIs and two runs), Kern (2-for-2 with a home run, three RBIs and two runs), Dirnberger (2-for-4 with a double, one run) and Campbell (2-for-4 with two RBIs and one run).
Bryant pitched all four innings and didn’t allow any earned runs on two hits with 10 strikeouts.
Continuing their impressive streak to start the season, Oran extended their run with a commanding 10-0 victory over Bloomfield (1-3) on Thursday, August 31.
The Eagles secured the win in just six innings, leaving no doubt about their dominance on the field.
Dirnberger and Burger each put in three innings of work on the mound., each allowing one hit, and finishing with six and seven strikeouts, respectively.
The team’s standouts on offense were Dirnberger (3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and three runs), Burger 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run), Loper (2-for-4 with an RBI and a run), Campbell (2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs) and Tyler Brashear (2-for-3 with two RBIs).
Oran returns to action against Leopold (0-1) on September 6 and at Woodland (1-0) on September 7.
