EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. — Despite a slow start, Oran exploded for a flurry of runs in the final inning to secure a resounding 17-1 victory over East Prairie on Thursday, April 6.

“It was a good win for us against a good conference opponent,” said Oran coach Joe Bickings. “We knew it was going to be tough with Peyton Hodges on the mound for East Prairie. We were able to take advantage of some of their miscues and score some runs. There are still a few things we need to clean up and do a better job of though.”

Kolton Payne earned the win after throwing three scoreless innings. Parker Bryant pitched 3.2 scoreless innings and allowed

Oran's top producers at the plate were Brenden Campbell (4-for-5 with an RBI and two runs), Nic Masey (2-for-5 with three RBIs and a run), Luke Peterson (2-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs) and Parker Bryant (2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs).

Nolan Loper, Gabe Dirnberger, Carson Kern and Kole Burger each had one hit and one RBI.

Peyton Hodges took the loss after 5.2 innings of work. He didn’t surrender any earned runs on five hits with a dozen strikeouts and two walks. Leven Turner threw 0.2 innings and allowed five earned runs on nine hits with two strikeouts and two walks. Jack Pearson pitched 0.2 innings without giving up any runs on one hit.

Oran travels to Scott City (7-2) on Monday, April 10, and to Advance with Zalma (2-3) on Thursday, April 13.

East Prairie is on the road at New Madrid County Central (4-3) on Tuesday, April 11, and at Senath-Hornersville (4-2) on Thursday, April 13.
