After suffering a heart-breaking loss Friday night in the opening round of the University High School Christmas Tournament, No. 8 Oran pulled away from No. 16 Leopold in the fourth quarter to win 56-37 in a consolation quarterfinal Saturday at the Show Me Center.
The three other consolation contests also went as expected with No. 11 Bell City pounding No. 14 Meadow Heights 82-45, No. 10 Scott County Central slipping past No. 15 Chaffee 62-56 and No. 12 Advance topping No. 13 Oak Ridge 51-38.
With the tournament taking today off, consolation action resumes Monday afternoon with the semifinals as Oran plays Advance at 1 p.m. and Scott County Central faces Bell City at 2:30 p.m.

The winless Wildcats stayed close to Oran for three quarters, but the Eagles made all eight of their free throws in the fourth quarter to pull away for the win.
Oran led 35-28 entering the fourth quarter before outscoring Leopold 21-9 over the final eight minutes. Chris Nichols led the Eagles with 11 points and Travis Friga added 10 as Oran evened its record at 4-4.
Leopold (0-8) got 14 points from Brian Holzum and 12 from Adam Horrell.
Oran led 12-9 after the first quarter and 27-22 at halftime.
No. 11 Bell City 82
No. 14 Meadow Heights 45
Five players scored in double-figures as Bell City improved to 5-4 with a dominating performance.
The Cubs led 17-12 after one quarter and extended that lead in each of the next three quarters. Bell City led 40-16 at halftime and 63-26 entering the final quarter.
Justin Stephens led the Cubs with 17 points, followed by Matt Knoderer (16), Jacob Jenkins (14), Jarrod Eftink (13) and Richard Surface (11).
Meadow Heights (2-7) got 12 points from Kevin Weaver and 10 from Ronnie Laurentius.
No. 10 Scott County 62
No. 15 Chaffee 56
Scott County Central's high-scoring duo of Jreece Johnson and John Fort combined for 37 points as the Braves improved to 5-3.
Johnson scored 19 and Fort added 18.
Chaffee (0-7) was led by Jeremy Vandeven's 16 points. Wayne McAllister had 15 and Jamey Dumey 10.
Scott County led 15-9 after one quarter and 28-19 at halftime.
No. 12 Advance 51
No. 13 Oak Ridge 38
The Hornets' Tommy Tucker and Gary Ahern equaled the Blue Jays' total of 38 points as Advance prevailed.
Tucker scored a game-high 23 points -- including 6 of 6 shooting on free throws -- and Ahern added 15 as the Hornets improved to 3-5.
Oak Ridge (1-8) got 12 points from Matt Preusser, 11 from Eric Hobeck and 10 by Brent Schreiner.
Advance led throughout, including 25-13 at halftime.
