Southeast Missouri State senior point guard Lucas Nutt was selected the OVC co-player of the week Monday after helping the Redhawks to the Cure UCD Classic title in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, over the weekend.
Nutt, who was among three Redhawks honored in the OVC weekly awards, averaged 15.3 points, five assists and two rebounds in the three-game tournament. He connected on 5 of 7 3-pointers and shot 71.4 percent from the field overall. Nutt scored a season-high 21 points in the tournament-opening win over Northern Kentucky.
Nutt, who averages an OVC-leading 6.5 assists per game, shared the honor with Morehead State junior guard Angelo Warner.
Southeast junior college transfer Jarekious Bradley earned the OVC newcomer award for the third time after being named the MVP of the Cure UCD Classic. Bradley, a junior small forward, averaged 16.7 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals in the tournament. He connected on 11 of 20 3-point attempts and shot 54.8 percent from the field overall. Bradley celebrated his 23rd birthday Sunday by scoring 20 points in the Redhawks' tournament-clinching 82-74 win over Texas State.
Southeast guard Antonius Cleveland was named co-freshman of the week, earning the award for the second time. He averaged 12 points, 2.7 assists and shot 61.9 percent from the field. He scored a season-high 17 points in a 30-point win over Tulane.
Southeast (6-2) will look to build on its four-game winning streak Saturday at Southeastern Louisiana.
