Nutt fills out Southeast Missouri State men's basketball coaching staff

Southeast Missouri State's men's basketball coaching staff officially is complete.

The university announced Jonathan Cremins' hiring as Dickey Nutt's No. 3 assistant Tuesday after it recently was reported that he had joined the program.

Cremins is a nephew of longtime successful college coach Bobby Cremins.

"I think we are extremely fortunate to have Jonathan join our staff," Nutt said in a release. "He comes from a great basketball family and his background speaks for itself. He is a young guy with good experience and is an excellent addition to our program."

Cremins spent the past two seasons on his uncle's staff at the College of Charleston. He previously served as an assistant and teacher during the 2009-10 school year at South Forsyth High School in Cumming, Ga.

Cremins' coaching resume also includes a stint as a graduate assistant at his alma mater, Valdosta State University, from 2007 through 2009.

Cremins, a native of Roswell, Ga., earned his bachelor's degree in history from Valdosta State in 2007 and his master's degree in public administration in 2009.

Bobby Cremins ranked among the nation's winningest college basketball coaches during a 30-year run that ended with his retirement last season.

He led Georgia Tech to the 1990 Final Four and is that program's winningest coach.

Jonathan Cremins joins veteran coach Jessie Evans, who was hired as Southeast's top assistant early last month, as new additions to Nutt's staff.

The pair joins Jamie Rosser, who has been with Nutt during his first three seasons at Southeast and remains on the staff.

Stone hits gold

Southeast Missouri State junior forward Tyler Stone continues to perform well during his exhibition trip to Brazil with the Sports Reach Sports Ministry basketball team.

Stone had seven points, 10 rebounds and six assists Monday to help his team earn a gold medal with a 98-49 victory over Catholic University in the fifth annual International Terra de Sole Basketball Cup in Fortaleza, Brazil.

Stone is averaging 17.6 points and 10 rebounds during the first three games into his trip that concludes Friday. He is playing with other college players, including Murray State's Stacy Wilson.

"We are only in our first city of the tour, and every morning I wake up it seems like I'm dreaming," Stone said in a release. "This is an experience of a lifetime."

Stone earned all-Ohio Valley Conference honors last season after leading Southeast in scoring and rebounding.
