SIKESTON — Talented athletes from Sikeston (0-4-1), Kennett (4-0), Notre Dame (3-1), Fredericktown (2-3) and Charleston (1-5) competed at the Sikeston Invitational on Thursday, September 7.

"They all played hard," said Sikeston coach Lynne DeWitt. "[Sikeston's] Chloe Lin and Saloni Maisuria won their first-round matches. We are seeing improvement after every match."

In the singles championship match, Vita Galati from Notre Dame defeated Christi Tejeda from Kennett with a score of 8-5.

Meanwhile, in the battle for third place, Notre Dame’s Suna Mungee defeated Kennett’s Olivia Rebstock 8-0 in the third-place match.

In the doubles championship, Kennett’s defending state champion team of Claire Bean and Handley McAtee defeated Fredericktown’s Emiley Geen and Clara Basden with a score of 8-0.
