Notre Dame captured the championship in the Class 3 District 1 tournament Tuesday night at Dexter, beating Kennett 25-19, 25-21 in a district semifinal and then defeating Dexter 25-18, 25-22 in the championship. Notre Dame captured the championship in the Class 3 District 1 tournament Tuesday night at Dexter, beating Kennett 25-19, 25-21 in a district semifinal and then defeating Dexter 25-18, 25-22 in the championship.

The Bulldogs (15-14-2) were led by senior Paige Schumer in the first match. Schumer, who was sidelined for the past two seasons because of injuries, had 21 assists. Junior Kelsey Bradshaw added 17 digs, and junior Taylor Sanders had nine kills.

In the championship, the Bulldogs received strong play again from Schumer, who had 22 assists; Bradshaw, who had 13 digs; and Kaitlin Wibbenmeyer who added with eight kills.

Liz Martin led Perryville (15-18-2) with 17 kills and 41 digs while Ava Johnson had 12 kills and 23 digs.

Ashley Castleberry added 19 assists and 23 digs, Linsay Martin chipped in 21 digs and Kasey Walter added 15 digs.

The Rams (18-14-3) rolled to a Class 2 District 2 championship sweep of Twin Rivers.

Danyelle Pate added six kills for the Rams (18-14-3), while Brooke Simpson chipped in five kills and 21 digs.

Heather Huckstep had three kills, Brittany Licare recorded 13 digs, Whitney Tapley had eight digs, and Jordan McFall added five assists.

Kristin Yetman led the Rams in assists with 12.

Leopold improved to 24-3 on the season behind Casey Bucher with seven kills and two blocks while Maddy Hutchings recorded six kills, three aces and three blocks.

Cassie Seiler added 20 assists, seven digs and three aces while Cassi Jansen chipped in with five kills and three blocks.

Central placed second at the Lafayette meet with 106 points followed by Jackson with 79. Lafayette placed first with 126 points.
