Notre Dame split a pair of boys soccer games at home in the four-team Noon Optimist Soccer Shootout on Saturday.

Notre Dame dropped an afternoon game 2-1 to Marshall County, Ky. Tyler LeGrand scored Notre Dame's goal with an assist from Abe Dirnberger.

In the nightcap, Mark Unterreiner scored a goal and added an assist to lead Notre Dame to a 3-2 victory over Murray, Ky. Unterreiner scored the winning goal with 5:19 remaining on an assist from Frankie Ellis. Ellis and Tyler LeGrand added scores. Chris Meyer had an assist.

SOFTBALL Jackson Invitational

Saturday was a tough day for area teams at the Jackson Invitational softball tournament.

Jackson, Notre Dame, Kelly and Central all picked up at least two losses. Jackson (5-13) fared the best, making it all the way to the semifinals before settling for fourth place. The Indians picked up a 5-4 victory against Doniphan and a 5-2 win over Sullivan before dropping a 2-1 game to Seckman in the semifinals. Cor Jesu dispatched of Jackson 15-3 in the third-place game. Hana Bolen had a hit in every game for Jackson.

Notre Dame (15-3) lost a 5-1 game to eventual champion Goreville, Ill., in its opener and lost to Poplar Bluff 2-1 in the consolation semifinals. The Bulldogs picked up two wins as well, 4-2 over Central and 7-1 over Nerinx Hall.

Kelly finished 1-3, winning a 4-2 decision against Fox in the opener. All of the Hawks' losses came in eight innings. Kelly lost to Cor Jesu 5-4, Lutheran South 2-1 and Sullivan 1-0.

Kelly Essner and Jessica Burnett had home runs in Kelly's lone win. Whitney Beggs struck out 26 batters in two losses.

Central also finished 1-3. Susie Edwards had an inside-the-park home run in a 13-2 win over Doniphan. The Tigers lost 4-0 to Lutheran South, 4-2 to Notre Dame and 2-1 to Fox.

Goreville won the championship 1-0 over Seckman.

St. Vincent Tournament

Delta finished third in the St. Vincent tournament, with a 2-2 record on Saturday. Herculaneum won the tournament over Farmington.Third-place game
