MURRAY, Ky. -- Notre Dame's soccer team used two dramatic 3-2 come-from-behind victories to capture the four-team Pepsi Invitational Saturday.

Notre Dame saw Chris Dirnberger score two late goals against Louisville Atherton in the championship game to overcome a 2-1 deficit.

Dirnberger was getting his first taste of varsity action this season and, according to Notre Dame coach Brad Wittenborn, was only brought along because the Bulldogs were in need of fresh legs on a two-game day.

"I thought we outplayed them a lot the last game but we let them score a couple of cheap goals," said Wittenborn.

Dirnberger tied the game 2-2 with about 10 minutes left. He deposited the game-winner with three minutes remaining.

"It was a real big day for Chris," said Wittenborn. "I'm sure it's a day he will remember."

Zach Miller scored Notre Dame's first goal. Ryan Fenwick, Jonathan LeGrand and Tom Wencewicz assisted on the goals.

Notre Dame (9-2-1) reached the championship game with 3-2 win over Owensboro (Ky.).

"We beat a real talented Owensboro team that was ranked No. 10 in Kentucky," said Wittenborn.

Fenwick, LeGrand and Oliver Sanders scored for Notre Dame.

LeGrand tied the game 2-2 on a penalty kick and Fenwick headed in a Zach Miller pass with four minutes left for the win.

Notre Dame returns to action Thursday against Jackson.
