Notre Dame's baseball team bounced back from its first SEMO Conference loss a day earlier at Dexter and knocked off visiting New Madrid County Central 5-2 in a league game Thursday.

Blake Urhahn picked up the win in relief for the Bulldogs (4-1) and struck out two in 1 2/3 innings. He went 2-for-3 and drove in two runs.

Dexter defeated the Bulldogs 9-8 Wednesday.

Scott City 4, Oran 3

SCOTT CITY, Mo. -- Scott City scored three runs in the fifth inning to rally from a 3-0 deficit and nip Oran. Both are 2-1.

Trenton Estes pitched three scoreless innings in relief for the victory. He allowed two hits. Oran starter Trey Graviett suffered the loss.

Scott City's Andrew Estes went 2-for-3 with two RBIs as the squads combined for just nine hits, five by the Rams.

Chaffee 26, Scott Co. Central 0

MORLEY, Mo.-- A 12-run second inning and a 5-5 hitting performance by James Reischman, including three doubles and seven RBIs, sparked Chaffee (4-2).

Sam Burnett, Chase Eskew, Brent Thomason and Derrick Uhrhan each had three RBIs and Andrew Horrell had two. Thomason was the winning pitcher.

Puxico 9, Leopold 1

LEOPOLD, Mo. -- Puxico (3-0) took advantage of defensive lapses by Leopold to score five runs early.

A. J. Seiler (0-1) took the loss for Leopold (0-2). Josh Van de Ven, Scott VanGennip and Kevin Holzum collected two hits each for the Wildcats.

Oak Ridge 13, Meadow Heights 8

PATTON, Mo. -- Oak Ridge's Clayton Ruesler allowed no hits, but control problems forced his exit after 4 2/3 innings.

Ruesler walked 10 and struck out nine in the Mississippi Valley Conference contest. Jeff Cowan, Ben Ponder and Josh Morrison stroked three hits each as Oak Ridge evened its record at 1-1.

Meadow Heights fell to 0-2.

SOFTBALL

Kelly 10, Charleston 0

BENTON, Mo. -- Sisters Kelly and Dana Essner combined on a five-inning no-hitter as Kelly improved to 3-0.

Kelly struck out eight and walked one over the first three innings. Dana fanned three and walked none over the final two innings.

The Lady Hawks had just six hits but benefited from 11 walks. Whitney Beggs had two RBIs.

Scott City 9, Oran 1

SCOTT CITY, Mo. -- Scott City notched its first win of the season as Shana Wadlington hurled a two-hitter.

Emily Miller and Britney Amick each had two hits for the Rams (1-2-1).

Chaffee 23, Scott Co. Central 0

MORLEY, Mo. -- Mallory Kiefer blasted a grand slam home run and had five RBIs as Chaffee pounded Scott County for 23 runs in a three-inning, run-rule victory.

Samantha Hendrix drove home four for Chaffee (4-0).

Chaffee's Abby Walter (2-0) no-hit the Bravettes in their season opener.

Leopold 17, Puxico 2

LEOPOLD, Mo. -- Leopold had 15 hits and destroyed Puxico in a three-inning, run-rule game.

Lori Vandermierden went 3-for-3 for the Wildcats (2-0) while Courtney Wesbecher and Kyla Horrell both had home runs. Holly Jansen delivered four RBIs and Wesbecher and Tonya Arnzen each added three RBIs.

Melinda Trankle pitched a one-hitter.

Oak Ridge 12, Meadow Heights 2

PATTON, Mo.-- A nine-run second inning lifted Oak Ridge (1-1-1).

Laura Glueck had a big game, striking out 13 and driving in three runs. Candice Scheper and Mindy Ruck each had three RBIs.

GIRLS' SOCCER

Central 4, Poplar Bluff 0

Cameron Bennett, Kate Miller, Jessica Ham and Caitlin Bahn scored goals to lead the Tigers (3-1).

Erica Foley, Julie Underwood and Heidi Pilsner recorded assists while Megan Kistner recorded the shutout.

Central's JV rolled 4-1 behind goals from Heather Hendrix, Lauren Thompson, Lacey Landgraf and Jenny McClure.

Notre Dame 10, Sikeston 0

SIKESTON, Mo. -- The first game for Sikeston's inaugural girls' program ended with a lopsided Notre Dame victory.

Notre Dame (2-0) got goals from Emily Worley, Kristen Boos, Amanda Dirnberger, Meredith LeGrand, Jesse Westrich, Sara Berkbigler, Ali Tyson and Sierra Ellis. Brittney Little, Lauren Mehner, Megan Holloway, Boos, Emily Essner, LeGrand, Ellis, and Tyson had assists. Katie Palmer was in goal for the shutout.

The Bulldogs' JV prevailed 5-0 as Loreal Garner scored 3 goals. Allison Essner and Nikki Meyer added one each.

Jackson 3, St. Vincent 0

JACKSON, Mo. -- Jackson goalie Whitney Werner recorded her second straight shutout.

Dana Wright, Molly Hartmann and Elizabeth Nussbaum scored goals for Jackson (2-0).

St. Vincent fell to 0-2-1.

Jackson's JV blanked St. Vincent 2-0. Jessie Bolen and Kelly Gerlach scored goals.

TRACK

Central, Poplar Bluff split

Central girls were victorious 96-50 and the boys lost 91-55 in a dual meet against Poplar Bluff.

Central made a clean sweep in two events: In the 800, Jennifer Pancoast, Holly Schaffer and Whitney Pingel finished in that order and Kim Pancoast, Pingel and Rachel Sprigg finished one, two, three in the 1600. Other first-place individual finishers were Lainie Bohnsack (high jump), Courtney Edge (200), Lauren Lee (long jump), Alex Wieser (400) and Vicki Wilson (100).

On the boys side, Central's Anthony Harris (high jump), Kyle Schuessler (300 hurdles), Chris Smith (shot put) and Calen Wills (400) came in first.

Central 153, NMCC 183

NEW MADRID, Mo. -- Todd Obergoenner led Central (2-2) with a one-under-par 34 at the New Madrid Country Club.

Fredericktown 167, Notre Dame 183

JACKSON, Mo. -- Greg Coit's 39 at Bent Creek Golf Course led Fredericktown past Notre Dame (3-2), which was paced by Tim Buerck's 42.

Festus 171, Perryville 181

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Nick Erlacker led Perryville (0-3) with a 44.

BOYS' TENNIS

Central 6, Sikeston 3

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Central's boys remained undefeated with its third win.

After dropping their first three singles matches, the Tigers reeled off wins in the final three singles and swept the doubles.
