The Notre Dame boys soccer team defeated host Hillsboro 3-0 on Thursday and moved within a victory of the Class 2 District 1 title as it pursues its third straight state championship.
The Bulldogs improved to 20-4 and moved into today's 6 p.m. championship game against De Soto in Hillsboro.
Joda Holloway and Trenton Vance each netted first-half goals for Notre Dame (20-4), which also received a second-half tally from Brock Dirnberger.
Assists went to Dirnberger, goalkeeper Ryan Bass and Joe Froemsdorf.
Bass recorded the shutout in goal with the late help of freshman James Holloway.
"We moved the ball around and had a lot of chances to score, and we finished three of them," Notre Dame coach Brad Wittenborn said. "I was pretty pleased with the way we played."
