Notre Dame posts quick victory over Perryville

Notre Dame's softball team showed why it is the No. 1 seed in Class 3, District 2 with a mercy-rule 13-3 win over district foe Perryville Wednesday in five innings at home.

The Pirates jumped in front with three runs off Bulldog starter Robyn Beel in the top of the first inning. After Beel recorded a pair of outs in the second Notre Dame turned the game over to ace Lindsay Reinagel and the Pirates' bats went silent from there.

Notre Dame tied in the bottom of the second with two runs and broke the game open with seven in the third. Whitney Ostendorf's two-run home run highlighted the inning.

The Bulldogs had 15 hits including seven extra basehits. Alana Weissmueller led the Bulldogs with a 3-for-3 game.

Reinagel allowed one hit in 3 1/3 innings for her ninth win. Notre Dame's three runs allowed were the most it has allowed all season.

GIRLS' TENNIS

Central 9, Chaffee 0

Central swept a young Chaffee team at home to improve to 10-5.

The Tigers got single wins from Liz LaFoe, Erika Foley, Brett Ford, Dani Gross, Michaelyn Burns and Merritt Gerlach. Central's doubles winners were Foley-Gross, Burns-Gerlach and Monica Toole-Paige Foley.

VOLLEYBALL

Jackson 25-25-25, North County 27-12-5

Jackson won on the road in three games.

Molly Hartmann led Jackson (16-2-1) with nine kills and five aces. Shay Priester added six kills and four blocks; Rebecca Martin had 10 digs and 14 service points and Jodie Gipson had three aces and 14 service points.

Jackson's JV team is 11-3 after a sweep, and the freshmen (4-8-3)won in three games.

De Soto 25-13-27, St. Vincent 22-25-25

St. Vincent lost in three games on the road late Tuesday night.

The Squaws were led by Miranda Weinkein and Kelsey Kutz with eight service points apiece. Sierra Paulus added eight kills and Megan Comte had 13 assists.

St. Vincent's JV won in three games.
