CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Notre Dame High's girls basketball team notched its eighth win of the season and fifth in a row with a 64-47 triumph over visiting Portageville Thursday night.
Angie Judd led three Lady Bulldogs in double figures with 19 points, including a trio of 3-pointers as Notre Dame improved to 8-5 on the season.
It was especially pleasing for Coach Jerry Grim, considering his team once again had to play without the services of sophomore point guard Bess Irlbeck, who was out with strep throat.
Irlbeck had missed much of the early part of the season with an injury.
"I thought we played better tonight than we have in a while, even though we were missing Bess," Grim said. "Melissa Gummersheimer did a good job of filling in for her."
Judd's production didn't hurt much, either.
In hitting her season high, Judd was 4-of-7 from inside the circle and 3-of-6 from 3-point range. She also added 13 rebounds.
Michelle Ressel was close behind with 16 points. She also had eight assists. Robin Thompson chipped in with 14 points on the inside for the Bulldogs to compliment the two outside players.
"Michelle had an outstanding game," Grim said of Ressel's performance. "And Robin Thompson is getting better every game."
The Lady Bulldogs led 14-10 after one quarter and 31-24 at halftime.
Notre Dame will try to make it three in a row next week when the Bulldogs begin competition in the Woodland Tournament.
