POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Lindsay Reinagel delivered another strong pitching performance as Notre Dame's softball team squeaked by Poplar Bluff 1-0.
Reinagel threw a no-hitter and was just one error away from a perfect game.
The Bulldogs (3-0) scored in the first inning. After Stacey Seyer stole second, she scored on Sara Berkbigler's double.
Hillsboro 4, Jackson 3
HILLSBORO, Mo. -- Hillsboro (3-1) scored two unearned runs in the bottom of the seventh to edge Jackson.
Starter Heather Tuschoff went six innings and gave up just two runs on six hits in a no-decision. Casey Hobeck came on in relief and gave up two unearned runs on two hits to end the game.
Jenny Schlick doubled, scored two runs and stole twice in the Indians' opener.
Girls' tennis
Charleston 9, Chaffee 0
CHARLESTON, Mo. -- Charleston won all nine matches against Chaffee in both teams season openers.
Charleston won most of the matches comfortably, but Ashleigh Barnhill had trouble with Chaffee's Nicole Poe in an 8-6 win. Shannon Hampton played Libby Renaud close but lost 8-5.
Jackson 8, Kennett 1
Jackson, Mo.-- Jackson won its opener behind individual victories by Katie Domain, Kelly Mitchell, Kari Miinch, Lauren Everett and Kim Anderson.
The doubles teams of Mitchell and Everett, Domain and Miinch and Carrie Golden and Anderson were also victorious for Jackson. The JV won 14-2.
