Notre Dame broke open a three-point game with a 48-point offensive explosion in the second half for a78-56 victory over Fredericktown Tuesday night in boys high school basketball action.
Chris Dirnberger led the way with a season-high 23 points for Notre Dame, which improved to 3-4.
Notre Dame led just 30-27 at halftime, but outscored Fredericktown 48-29 in the second half. The Bulldogs held a 23-12 scoring edge in the third quarter and a 25-17 advantage over the final eight minutes.
"I thought offensively we were stopping ourselves," said Notre Dame coach Chris Neff. "We just kept it outside. The second half we really got in them, got in deep and attacked the pressure of the zone."
Neff said the Bulldogs were lacking confidence after the first half.
"It wasn't that we changed any strategy, we just told them to trust their abilities," said Neff.
Adam Obermiller added 13 points for Notre Dame while Josh Eftink netted 11.
Justin Hall scored 19 points for Fredericktown and Steve Crites tallied 12.
Park Hills 71, Perryville 67
PERRYVILLE -- The Pirates saw an eight-point halftime slip away as the Rebels rallied to victory.
Perryville (1-4) led 40-32 at halftime but saw the lead trimmed to 53-52 by the start of the fourth quarter. Park Hills then overtook the Pirates with a 22-13 scoring advantage in the final period.
Lance Sechrest did the bulk of the damage for Park Hills with 28 points.
Ryan Wichern led Perryville with 18 points. Kyle Abernathy and Michael Downen each added 11 points.
