The Notre Dame girls basketball team started the Visitation Academy Christmas Tournament on a high note with a closely contested 49-47 win over Ursuline on Saturday, Dec. 23, in St. Louis.
Nevaeh Lucious led the Bulldogs with 11 points and seven rebounds. Brie Rubel scored 10 points with five assists and Kate Rubel grabbed seven rebounds with four assists.
Olivia Wagoner added nine points and Eliza Barnette chipped in eight points. Both of whom also grabbed five rebounds each.
As a team, Notre Dame collected 26 rebounds, shot 5-of-10 from the three-point line and made 6-of-8 free throws.
Notre Dame was down a point after the first half, entering halftime trailing 30-29. The Bulldogs came back during a low scoring third quarter to lead 39-35, and maintained the lead through the fourth quarter to win.
The Bulldogs will resume play in the quarterfinal round of the Visitation Academy Christmas Tournament on Tuesday, Dec. 26.
