COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Quinn Poythress scored a game-high 25 points, and 10 Notre Dame seniors ended their high school boys basketball careers with a 65-44 win over Bolivar in the Class 4 third-place game Friday at Mizzou Arena.
Notre Dame (27-5) jumped out to a 23-10 lead at the end of the first quarter thanks in large part to senior Dean Crippen, who scored eight of his 16 points in the opening period.
Bolivar (26-6) trimmed five points from its deficit and trailed 31-23 at halftime. The Liberators drew within five points with 6:30 left in the final period, but the Bulldogs closed the game on an 18-2 spurt.
Seniors Derek Hulshof and Grant Ressel, both of which were starters for Notre Dame before tearing their ACLs earlier this season, started the game for the Bulldogs.
