New Salem sweeps Peoples Christian in season openers

Josiah Davault recorded a triple-double in the season opener for New Salem Baptist on Friday in a 61-32 victory over Peoples Christian Academy on the road.

Davault finished with 14 points, 17 rebounds and 10 assists. Jeremy Rockhill added 17 points and 16 rebounds for New Salem. Brett Jones had 16 and Trent Jones added 12.

Jeremy Martin led Peoples with 12 points.

New Salem Baptist won its season opener behind 24 points from Sarah Green on the road.

New Salem trailed 28-20 at halftime, but outscored Peoples 14-4 in the third quarter. Kelsey Barlow added 10 points for New Salem.
