The New Salem girls basketball team opened its season with a lopsided victory Tuesday in St. Louis.
The Eagles defeated Thomas Jefferson 47-7 behind 25 points from Marti Poole.
Kelsey Barlow added 18 and Leah Jones four in the win.
New Salem led 27-4 at halftime and extended the lead to 41-5 after three quarters.

New Salem 68, Thomas Jefferson 44
Josh Davault scored 23 points and Dillon Gaines added 20 to lead the Eagles to the road win.
Trent Jones chipped in 17 points and New Salem (3-1) built a 34-26 lead at halftime.
The Eagles pulled away in the fourth quarter by outscoring Jefferson 22-8.
