The team from the Marble Hill school completed a 24-0 season.
The New Salem Baptist volleyball team captured the Missouri Christian Schools Athletic Association state championship on Saturday, winning two more matched to finish a perfect season.
New Salem (24-0) beat Grandview 25-19, 25-13 in the semifinals and then topped Riverview Bible Baptist 25-17, 25-20 in the championship.
"The girls played really well," coach Angie Goodwin said. "They worked great as a team."
New Salem had finished last year second in the state.
On Saturday in Joplin, Mo., New Salem reached the ultimate prize.
Laura Poole finished the day with 33 assists and Martha Poole had 11 kills in two matches.
Laura Poole joined Sarah Green on the all-state tournament team.
Laura Poole had 11 assists and six aces in the semifinal, while Martha Poole had four aces to go with her two kills. Sarah Green had four kills and Celsey Cook had two to go with two aces.
Martha Poole had nine kills and two aces in the championship, a match in which Laura Poole had 22 assists and two kills.
Sarah Green added four kills and two aces in the title game, while Cook had six kills and an ace.
BOYS SOCCER MCSAA tournament
Eagle Ridge Christian's state championship hopes were dashed by second-seeded Grandview Christian of St. Louis in a 4-0 decision on Friday in the MCSAA semifinals.
In the third-place game on Saturday, the Eagles played top-seeded Crosspoint Christian. No result was available as of press time.
