New Salem Baptist places third in MCSAA

New Salem Baptist finished third at the Missouri Christian School Athletic Association volleyball championships Saturday at Joplin.

New Salem finished 3-0-2 in pool play after splitting with Camdenton and Eagle Ridge Christian on Friday.

In bracket play, New Salem beat Calvary Christian 25-18, 26-24 but lost to Christian Outreach 25-20, 13-25, 14-25 in the semifinals. New Salem recovered for a 25-20, 20-25, 25-17 in the third-place match over People's Christian.

MacKenzie Jones earned first team all-state honors and Holly Jordan was second team. Jordan led New Salem with 36 kills throughout the tournament. Jones added 25 kills, 34 assists and 14 aces. Sarah Green had 34 kills, Mary Poole had 31 kills and Laura Poole had 74 assists.
