New Southeast Missouri State men's basketball coach Scott Edgar said early this week that the university is getting close to officially announcing his first coaching staff with the Redhawks.
But there is no secret as to who Edgar's three assistants will be.
Ronnie Dean and Toby Lane, who were assistants on former Southeast coach Gary Garner's staff, have been retained by Edgar.
Dean had also been in the running for a more lucrative assistant coaching position at Wyoming, but the Charleston native had indicated all along that he would likely remain at Southeast. He confirmed that Tuesday.
"It's where my heart is," Dean said.
Rounding out Edgar's staff will be Scepter Brownlee, who was on the Tennessee staff along with Edgar last season. Brownlee is a former player at the University of San Francisco.
Dean, Lane and Brownlee were all with Edgar Tuesday night during Southeast's annual All Sports Year End Celebration at the Show Me Center.
Edgar on Monday landed his first recruit at Southeast when Anna-Jonesboro (Ill.) High School senior Jimmy Drew signed.
