ND's McCauley selected all-state

Sommer McCauley led the SEMO Conference in scoring and her Notre Dame basketball squad to a fourth straight state quarterfinal appearance this season.

Those accomplishments helped McCauley land on the Missouri Sportswriters and Sportscasters Class 4 all-state list, making the first team.

"Last year she was second team all-state. She definitely deserved it," Notre Dame coach Jerry Grim said. "She did a lot for our team."

McCauley led the Bulldogs in scoring and rebounding, averaging 17.2 points and just under eight rebounds. As a senior, McCauley was the catalyst of Notre Dame's offense, helping the Bulldogs finish 20-9 and falling just short of a trip to the final four.

"She's just so explosive," Grim said. "When she goes to the hole with the ball they just can't stop her."

On the boys side Central's Ryan Delph made the Class 5 all-state second team. Delph averaged more than 16 points for the 17-9 Tigers. After losing several starters late in the season, Delph averaged close to 20 points over the team's final nine games.

Delph, a 5-foot-10 senior guard, wowed Central crowds this season with an array of high-flying dunks. Delph finished the season averaging nearly a dunk a game.
