Notre Dame freshman Sarah Bell carded a 76 on Tuesday to finish third overall with a two-round score of 150 at the Missouri Class 1 girls golf tournament at Rivercut Golf Course in Springfield.

The 13-year-old Bell fired a 74 on Monday to enter the final round in second place.

Mt. Vernon's Ashley Childers (145) claimed first-place honors, and John Burroughs' Logan Marie Otter (148) placed second.

Grim said Bell, Childers and Otter were tied atop the leaderboard after the completion of the front nine.

"This is a heck of an experience for her," Grim said. "She dropped a couple strokes on the back nine, but to be a freshman and perform like that, that's great."

The day began cool and windy, but Grim said weather was never an issue.

"The course was in pretty good shape. It rained all night last night, so there were some water issues," Grim said. "It drained pretty good, and the bunkers were pretty good. The course, overall, was in good shape."

Notre Dame freshman Allison Bray finished eighth overall with a two-round score of 161, while senior teammate Mattie Beussink placed 30th with a 181.

"I'm looking forward to having them the next three years and for them to be in the state tournament the next three years," Grim said about Bell and Bray.

MICDS High School (664) earned first-place honors in the team standings, followed by John Burroughs (678) in second and Pembroke Hill (698) in third.
