Central's softball team gained an early edge against visiting Notre Dame, but the Bulldogs scored six unanswered runs to triumph 6-4 in eight innings Thursday night.
Central jumped out to a 4-0 lead after three innings before Notre Dame's Beth Schnurbusch replaced starting pitcher Miranda Schlosser and shut down the Tigers the rest of the way.
Schnurbusch threw five scoreless innings, allowing two hits and no walks, for her sixth straight win.
Notre Dame's offense was silent until the fifth inning, when the Bulldogs scored four runs to knot the score. Notre Dame then scored two more in the top of the eighth on an RBI single by Kristain Burger and a sacrifice fly from Cortney Ostendorf.
Kelsey Holloway, who replaced starter Amanda Nichols in the sixth inning, suffered the loss for Central (2-12). She allowed two hits and one walk.
Burger and Schlosser had two hits apiece to lead the Bulldogs (9-1), while Jamie Lester had two hits for Central.
Notre Dame will meet John F. Kennedy High School at 5:15 p.m. today in its first game of the Incarnate Word tournament.

Kegan Orr, who finished with two of Chaffee's six hits, got to third on a two-out triple in the sixth but was stranded. Sarah Benton took the loss, allowing seven hits in six innings. Benton struck out five and walked one.

The Bulldogs (4-1) grabbed a 4-0 halftime lead.
Jack Wedemeier and Abe Dirnberger had two goals apiece, while Jason Delgado added a goal and an assist.
Kyle Schade and Ty Williams had assists, and Nathan Kolda recorded the shutout in goal.
