Lindsay Reinagel and the Notre Dame Lady Bulldogs capped a perfect opening week to the 2001 softball season as Notre Dame rallied for a 7-6 victory over Poplar Bluff Thursday at Notre Dame High School.

Reinagel pitched the final 1 2-3 innings for her third win of the week, accounting for all her team's victories.

After Poplar Bluff ended a scoreless duel with five runs in the top of the fifth, Notre Dame answered with a six-run outburst in the home half. Stacy Schwartz had a two-run triple to tie the game and then scored the go-ahead run.

Poplar Bluff tied the game in the seventh, but Notre Dame's Stacey Seyer drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the inning to end the game.

Notre Dame had nine hits overall, including two apiece by Katlyn Kelly and starting pitcher Mika Williamson.

Reinagel, the third Lady Bulldog hurler, allowed three hits, struck out three and did not walk a batter.

Hillsboro 10, Jackson 0

JACKSON, Mo. -- The Lady Indians remained scoreless on the season with their second shutout loss in as many days.

Jackson (0-2), which opened its season Wednesday with a 14-inning, 1-0 loss to St. Louis Notre Dame, managed just four hits against Hillsboro.

Heather Tuschhoff pitched the first three innings and took the loss. She allowed four hits, struck out one and walked one. Hillsboro scored three in the third and four in the fifth for a 7-0 lead.

Jackson won the JV contest 10-7.

Jackson 7, Kennett 2

KENNETT, Mo. -- Jackson opened up its season with a 7-2 varsity win.

"We did well," Jackson coach Linda Adams said. "We were a little nervous and it was really hot. The heat index was 105 but I was real pleased. Kennett was very competitive."

Jackson's junior varsity fell 8-7.
