CHARLESTON -- Randi Senciboy had a huge fourth quarter Monday night as Notre Dame High's girls basketball team slipped past Scott County Central 58-54 in the opening round of the Charleston Tournament.
The fourth-seeded Lady Bulldogs, who raised their record to 10-9, will take on top-seeded Jackson in Thursday night's semifinals. The other semifinal will pit No. 2 Cape Girardeau Central against No. 3 New Madrid.,
Senciboy scored 16 of her game-high 22 points in the final quarter as Notre Dame rallied from a 39-33 deficit entering the period. She hit three 3-point baskets.
Jill Huber added 11 points for the Lady Bulldogs.
Scott Central got 19 points from Heather Bright and 12 from Ashley Whitson.
"We fell behind by eight points early in the fourth quarter but we put a little press on them, they made a few mistakes and we were able to come back and take the lead," said Notre Dame coach Jerry Grim.
Now Notre Dame will take on Jackson -- the state's top-ranked Class 4A team -- for the third time this season. The Lady Bulldogs lost the first two meetings.
Scott City 70, East Prairie 15
EAST PRAIRIE -- Scott City improved to 9-7 with a romp on the road.
Ten players scored for the Lady Rams, with four in double figures. Lani Bedwell led the way with 14 points while Amber Dannenmueller had 11 and Jennifer Bain and Crystal Smith added 10 each.
The Lady Rams jumped out to a 37-8 halftime lead and coasted in the second half.
Perryville 69, Crystal City 24
PERRYVILLE -- Perryville stayed perfect in Jefferson County Conference play by romping at home.
The Lady Pirates (10-8 overall, 6-0 league) got 15 points from Tiffany Perkins and 13 from Julie Berkbuegler.
Perryville led 34-12 at halftime and broke the game totally open with a 30-6 edge in the third quarter.
Delta 38, Puxico 33
DELTA -- Kristin Fish scored 21 points as Delta overcame a two-point halftime deficit to defeat visiting Puxico.
Delta (7-9) also received 10 points from Amanda Cook.
Jackie Payne paced Puxico with 19 points.
Puxico led 20-18 at halftime, but Delta moved ahead 28-26 by the start of the fourth quarter. The Lady Bobcats held a 10-7 scoring advantage over the final eight minutes.
Grandview 45, St. Vincent 39
PERRYVILLE -- St. Vincent was outscored 20-11 in the second quarter as the Squaws suffered a loss at home.
The Squaws (4-13) were hurt by a 14-for-30 performance from the free-throw line.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Marquand 85, Meadow Heights 52
ZALMA -- Marquand rolled to victory as the four-team Zalma Tournament got under way.
Dusty Stephens paced the Tigers with 29 points while Steve Braswell had 25. Also in double figures were Scott Emmett with 16 and Eric Hovis with 10.
Meadow Heights got 15 points from J.D. Brune, 13 from Joe Jones and 10 from Seth Revelle.
BOYS SWIMMING
Cape Central 104, DeSmet 80
ST. LOUIS -- Cape Central improved to 8-3-1 in dual meets with an impressive road victory.
"Our seniors had never beaten DeSmet so it was really an exciting meet for us," said Central coach Dayna Powell.
The Tigers won nine events. Double individual winners for Central were Jason Owen (200 freestyle, 500 freestyle), Ben Roeger (200 individual medley, 100 backstroke) and Eric Yount (50 freestyle, 100 freestyle).
Central's 200 freestyle relay team of Jon Lowrance, Andrew Skinner, Nathan Skinner and Rob Tygett turned in a season-best time of 1:40.60.
The Tigers will close out their dual season today at Parkway Central.

WRESTLING
Farmington 59, Cape Central 10
Cape Central put up a solid challenge but the host Tigers were overwhelmed by an extremely talented Farmington squad.
"We were ready to wrestle and we wrestled hard," said Central coach Drew Lilledahl. "But Farmington is really good up and down the lineup. They're the SEMO Conference champs and they have a chance to win the (Class 3A) state title."
The Tigers won three matches. Keith Benton earned a major decision at 112 pounds while Kevin Allen (125) and Nick Harter (145) claimed decisions.
In the night's most exciting match, Central heavyweight Craig Knoth suffered a 2-1 loss to Ryan Todd in double overtime.
Central returns to action tonight at New Madrid.
