The Redhawks took the rubber match of a three-game series against Ohio Valley Conference newcomer Southern Indiana by a 14-2 margin on Saturday afternoon.
After opening the series with a 13-4 win on Thursday and then dropping the second game, 9-6, on Friday, the Redhawks kept their record north of .500 with a rout win against the Screaming Eagles (9-22).
It took just seven innings for the game to reach a conclusion, as a four-run third and a five-run fifth fed into a blowout as 14 runs crossed for the Redhawks, ending the game by mercy rule after the Eagles’ half of the seventh came to a conclusion.
Jevon Mason and Lincoln Andrews both finished with three hits in the win for Southeast Missouri State, with Andrews exiting the yard in the third inning en route to a game-high five RBIs for the Redhawks. Right fielder Josh Cameron reached base five times with two hits and three walks drawn.
Haden Dow grabbed the win for the Redhawks with 5.0 innings pitched, allowing four hits and two walks while earning one run. Dow improved his record to 3-1 on the season, while Esteban Hernandez and Kyle Miller both appeared for a full inning in relief to close out the win.
The Redhawks move into a matchup against perennial rival Southern Illinois, traveling to play at 6 p.m. on Tuesday in Carbondale, Ill.

Southeast Missouri State softball continued its streaking ways over the weekend, sweeping Ohio Valley Conference opponent Morehead State in a three-game series in Cape Girardeau to improve its season record to 20-9.
In all, the Redhawks have won their past 10 conference games, last falling on Mar. 18 at Tennessee State. 4-1 and 9-1 victories on Friday secured the series for the hosting Redhawks before a slim 1-0 win on Saturday wrote in the series sweep.
The lone run of the game came on a sacrifice fly to left field as Alyson Tucker drove in Kimmy Fleming to give the Redhawks the eventual game-winning run.
Kynzie Wrigley and Zoe Schulte combined for the Redhawks’ sole two hits of the game as the team only reached base seven total times in the game – three more on walks, one on a hit-by-pitch and the last on an Eagles error.
Delaney Kell earned the win for the Redhawks, pitching 5.1 innings while allowing five hits for five total baserunners and striking out three batters. Marisa Davis appeared in relief, earning the save after 1.2 innings pitched without allowing a baserunner and striking out a pair.
Southeast Missouri State moves into a midweek rematch with Southern Illinois, with the Salukis having handed the Redhawks their last loss back on Mar. 28 in Carbondale. The Redhawks are to host the Salukis at 3 p.m. on Tuesday.
