Notre Dame (20-12) scored some runs early, but the Bulldogs’ five-run seventh inning put the icing on the cake for their district championship win against Farmington (21-8) on Tuesday, winning 10-4.

After downing 25-5 Hillsboro on Monday, Notre Dame took care of business in a big win against Farmington to secure its second consecutive district title and the fourth in the past five seasons.

Jacie Smith’s two-hit, two-RBI day led the Bulldogs on offense, while Lauren Estes and Heidi LeGrand both added another two hits.

Notre Dame next hosts Washington (34-1-1) at 1 p.m. on Saturday in a Class 4 quarterfinal game.

__VOLLEYBALL: Jackson volleyball opens districts with lopsided Northwest sweep__

Jackson volleyball (27-6-3) opened postseason play with a dominant sweep at hosting Northwest, winning sets at 25-7, 25-9, and 25-9.

Never allowing double-digit points in a set, Jackson took a step in the right direction to begin districts. The Indians are seeking to win their fifth consecutive district championship.

Top-seeded Jackson next plays at 5 p.m. on Thursday at Northwest High School in Cedar Hill, Missouri, against either No. 4 Lindbergh or No. 5 Mehlville.

__Woodland 3, Charleston 0__

The Woodland Cardinals swept the Charleston Blue Jays in three sets (25-6, 25-7, 25-7) in the first round of the Class 2 District 2 Tournament. The Cardinals will take on the host Bloomfield in the semifinal round on Wednesday.

__Potosi 3, Perryville 0__

The Perryville Pirates' season came to an end in the first round of the Class 3 District 2 Tournament with a 25-22, 27-25, 25-19 loss to Potosi. The Pirates finished with an 11-16-1 record.

__Four Blue Jays earn MVC honors__

Four Oak Ridge volleyball players made the Mississippi Valley All-Conference team. Reagan How and Alivia Schilling made first-team All-Conference while Kinsley Bogenpohl and Katie Seabaugh made second-team All-Conference. The Blue Jays won three straight games to enter the Class 1 District 4 Tournament with a 15-11-1 record and will face Crystal City in the semifinal round on Wednesday.
