Jackson softball (5-1) fell behind in the first inning 2-0 but had three two-run innings in a row to take a 6-2 lead into the fifth and bring home the win 7-4.
Kameryn Tucker and Ashlyn Dawes both had three hits while Zoe Flath and Miley Conklin had two and one hits, respectively. As a team, the Indians finished with 10 hits and Tucker led the way with three RBIs including a solo home run shot.
In the circle, Dawes went the full game with seven strikeouts, three walks and four earned runs.
Jackson will welcome Perryville to town on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
Baseball: Bell City defeats Cooter for second win in a row
Bell City put up a whopping 10 runs and took home the 10-2 victory over Cooter. Three different three-run innings secured the victory for the Cubs.
Kale Richardson paced the Cubs by going 3-4 with an RBI and a walk. All nine members of the Bell City team notched a hit as the team totaled 12.
Dawson Loomes started on the mound for the Cubs and went six innings, finishing with eight strikeouts, one walk and just one earned run. Richardson came in for relief in the seventh, striking out two of the batters he faced.
Bell City will travel to Meadow Heights on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
Meadow Heights 7, Leopold 4
Meadow Heights used big sixth and seventh innings to defeat Leopold and begin their season with a win.
Ransom Grindstaff led the way for the Panthers by going 2-4 with four RBIs, three of which came off a home run in the seventh.
Elijah Frazier started on the rubber for Meadow Heights and went five and a third with five strikeouts and four earned runs. Braeden Hays came in for relief and finished off the Wildcats with three strikeouts.
Drew Engelen paced the Wildcats with a 2-3 day and three RBIs while Riley Engelen added one more hit. On the mound, Frederick Brandel took the loss but did strike out seven Panthers and walked none.
Meadow Heights gets West County at home on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. and Leopold will take on Puxico at home at 4:30 p.m.
Volleyball: Cape Central sweeps Sikeston to remain unbeaten
Cape Central broke out the brooms to defeat Sikeston 25-13, 25-17, 25-19 and improved their record to 2-0.
Madison Phelps led the offense with 10 kills while Ashlynn Hickey helped out with the addition of 13 assists. On the defensive side of the ball, Ella Hukel totaled nine digs as the Tigers cruised over the Bulldogs.
Cape will travel to Perryville on Thursday at 7 p.m.
Fredericktown 3, Scott City 0
Scott City volleyball suffered their first loss of the season at the hands of Fredericktown 21-25, 13-25, 16-25.
Mackenzie Lawless and Mackenna Gentry led the charge for the Rams offense with eight and six kills, respectively. Ramsey Spinks added to the offense with 14 assists and on defense, Spinks finished with eight digs.
Also on the defensive end, Hattie Jones paced Scott City with 10 digs while Lawless added nine of her own.
Scott City will battle Notre Dame at home on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
