Advance (12-5) made it four consecutive wins on Monday night, defeating visiting Portageville (12-10) in a 7-1 win at home.
The Advance offense got it going early, scoring three runs in the first inning. Starting pitcher Addison Carlton totaled as many hits on offense as she allowed in a full game on offense, hitting twice while allowing two base hits, four walks and one earned run in a game where she struck out nine batters.
Brogan Wright-Hawkins led the Hornets with three hits, scoring twice. Kaylee Cline notched another two hits for Advance, while Carlton’s three RBIs led the team.
Advance next plays at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday at New Madrid County Central (3-14).
__Valle Catholic 10, Scott City 0__
Little went right for Scott City (14-7) on Monday night as the Rams faltered on the road to Valle Catholic (13-3), losing 10-0 via mercy rule in six innings.
Graycie Conklin finished with the lone hit of the game for the Rams, reaching base in the fourth inning via an infield single on the bunt.
Olivia Ponder and Halle Comer both reached base by drawing walks, becoming the only other batters to reach base withstanding Valle Catholic errors.
Scott City next hosts Holcomb (20-6) at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
