The Charleston Blue Jays defeated the Perryville Pirates 7-5 on Monday at Charleston High School.
The offense of the Pirates was led by sophomore Troy O’Keefe who went 1-2 with two walks and two RBIs. On the mound for Perryville, O’Keefe went four innings and finished with nine strikeouts, two walks and five earned runs. Junior Logan Hoehn came in for relief and got one strikeout, four walks and one earned run.
The Pirates scored three in the second when senior Dane Lauck was hit by a pitch that brought in freshman Karston Schilli, O’Keefe then hit a two RBI single to right that brought in junior Caleb Triller and freshman Waylon Huber. In the sixth, a Huber single scored sophomore Dalton Fritsche and then a junior Adam Green walk scored Huber.
The Pirates next gets St. Vincent at home at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday for the Battle of Perryville.
__Advance 14, Meadow Heights 4__
The Advance Hornets defeated the Meadow Heights Panthers 14-4 on Monday at Advance High School.
The offense of Meadow Heights was led by sophomore Drew Thorne who went 1-3 with an RBI. On the mound for the Panthers, freshman Caidyn Byrd took the loss with two walks and four earned runs.
Meadow Heights scored two in the first off a Thorne single that scored senior Will Green and a senior Koby Cook fielders choice that scored sophomore Braeden Hays. In the second, a Green single off an error scored freshman Dierks Simmons. The final run came in the fifth when Hays stole second, third and home off multiple Advance errors.
The Panthers will go to Clearwater at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
__St. Vincent 13, Leopold 6__
The St. Vincent Indians defeated the Leopold Wildcats 13-6 on Monday at Leopold High School.
The offense of St. Vincent was led by junior Simon Barber who went 2-4 with a walk and four RBIs, senior Grant Abernathy picked up the win on the mound with five strikeouts and three walks in three innings.
The offense of Leopold was led by senior Klete Beel who went 0-1 with three walks, one RBI and one run scored. On the mound for the Wildcats, junior Fred Brandel took the loss with eight strikeouts, two walks and three earned runs.
Leopold will begin play in the Class 1 District 2 on Monday against Bell City at host site Oran.
__Valle Catholic 10, Cape Central 1__
The Valle Catholic Warriors defeated the Cape Central Tigers 10-1 on Monday at Valle Catholic High School.
The offense of the Tigers was led by senior Carter Crosnoe who went 2-4 and senior Morgan Diamond took the loss on the hill with five strikeouts, two walks and three earned runs.
The lone run for Central came in the second when sophomore Deklin Pittman scored on a wild pitch.
The Tigers next get Ste. Genevieve at home at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
__Scott City 7, New Madrid County 4__
The Scott City Rams defeated the New Madrid County 7-4 on Monday at New Madrid County High School.
The offense of Scott City was led by junior Luek Umfleet who went 1-2 with two walks and two RBIs. On the mound for the Rams, freshman Jackson Gloth got the win with one strikeout and two walks and junior Blake Wilburn got the save with one strikeout.
The Rams scored three in the third off two sac flys and a grounder by senior Holden Miller, they added one more in the fourth off another sac fly. Scott City got to five runs in the sixth off back- to-back double from Umfleer and Miller. The final run of the game came off a long ball shot to left by senior Luke Holder.
Scott City next goes to Cooter at 4:30 on Tuesday.
__Festus 5, Notre Dame 1__
The Festus Tigers defeated the Notre Dame Bulldogs 5-1 on Monday at Festus High School.
The offense of the Bulldogs was led by senior Cole Lemons who went 1-3 with the games only RBI. On the mound for Notre Dame, Lemons took the loss with two strikeouts and two walks with two earned runs.
The RBI came in the third when Lemons grounded out and allowed sophomore Logan Landewee to score.
Notre Dame will begin play in the Class 4 District 1 tournament on Saturday.
__Oak Ridge 7, Crystal City 3__
The Oak Ridge Blue Jays defeated the Crystal City Hornets 7-4 on Monday at Oak Ridge High School.
The offense of Oak Ridge was led by junior Konnor Hobeck who went 2-4 with two RBIs and a run scored. Senior Tyler Bishop got the win on the mound for the Blue Jays with five strikeouts, four walks and three earned runs.
The first run for Oak Ridge came in the third when Hobeck singled and brought in junior Carson Hahs. Oak Ridge had a monster fourth inning with six runs scored to take the lead and they held it the rest of the way for the win.
Oak Ridge next gets Bismarck at home at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
