St. Vincent (7-5) used a four-run first inning to down Oak Ridge (5-6) in five innings, defeating the hosting Bluejays after a five-run fifth inning brought the mercy rule into play.
Christian Schaaf and Jacob Hennemann both finished with two hits, while Schaaf’s two RBIs led the team in the win. Liam Krauss reached base three times on a hit, a walk and an Oak Ridge error, scoring all three times.
St. Vincent’s Nicholas Buchheit pitched 5.0 innings in the win, allowing two hits and four walks without earning a run, striking out six batters to secure the win for the Indians.
Oak Ridge’s Konnor Hobeck and Tyler Bishop knocked the only two hits of the game for the Bluejays, with Bishop reaching base twice, once on a walk. Landon Overbey drew two walks in three plate appearances in the loss for Oak Ridge.
St. Vincent next plays at 4 p.m. on Thursday at St. Pius X (9-3), while Oak Ridge next plays at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Saxony Lutheran (5-4).
__Oran 9, Saxony Lutheran 1__
Two big innings for Oran (9-3) doomed Saxony Lutheran (5-4) on Tuesday night as the Eagles scored four runs in two separate frames to secure a 9-1 win at home.
Gabriel Dirnberger’s game-high two runs, three hits and three RBIs pushed Oran to a lopsided victory, including a two-run single in the fourth inning. Brenden Campbell reached twice on a pair of walks, including a base on balls to score a run in the sixth inning.
Parker Bryant’s 5.0 innings pitched for the Eagles earned him the win on Tuesday, allowing five hits, two walks and three hit-by-pitches, earning the lone run of the game. Carson Kern entered the game soon after, pitching 2.0 innings without allowing a baserunner and striking out four batters.
Aaron Eubanks hit twice for the Crusaders and drew a walk, leading the team in offensive production in the loss. Jace Boland, Blake Gaebler and David Weinhold notched the three other hits in the game for Saxony Lutheran, combining for a total of five.
Oran next hosts Malden (2-11) at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, while Saxony Lutheran next hosts Oak Ridge (5-6) at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
__Leopold 6, Delta 0__
Leopold (5-6) scored all six runs in its final two innings at the dish, dooming Delta (2-13) late in a 6-0 win at home.
Freshman Preston Campbell led the way on both sides of the ball for Leopold, pitching 6.1 innings and earning the win for the Wildcats after allowing just three hits and two walks without earning a run. At the dish, Campbell’s two hits and two RBIs both served as game-high numbers, with teammate Braden Halter also hitting twice, once to drive in a run.
Delta’s Paxton Hornbuckle, Carter Scherer and Keigan Engelen all finished with a hit in the loss, while Rylin Huffman and Trevor Stoffregen drew walks.
Leopold next hosts Meadow Heights (7-3) at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, May 1, while Delta next plays at 4:30 p.m. on Friday at Egyptian.
