Missourian Diamond Roundup, Mar. 21: Advance crushing on both diamonds

Thursday action burned hot as Southeast Missourian diamond teams took the field in troves, with some big wins and some harsh losses taking place during.

We'll lead off with the greatest performance of the day, though, panning to Leopold softball (1-2) as the Wildcats got their first win of the year.

It took eight innings, but led by the flaming-hot bat of Brenna Beussink, the Wildcats rolled past Bloomfield on the road.

Beussink had one of the craziest lines you'll ever see, as the sophomore hit a double, three triples and a homer, going 5-for-6 at the dish and driving in 10 runs on the day.

Advance baseball (2-2) no-hit Delta (0-5) on Thursday afternoon, continuing the Bobcats' slump while the Hornets got back to .500 on the year.

Caleb Henson put up a heck of a night for Advance, grabbing the win defensively while notching the game's only multi-hit performance when going 3-for-4.

Jackson baseball (5-1) kept its season-opening hot streak burning with a hefty win against Dexter on the road, getting a balanced offensive performance for the win.

The Indians allowed just one Bearcat hit in something of a scheduled bullpen day, throwing three guys for a dominant day on the mound.

Saxony Lutheran baseball (2-2), after getting its first win of the year in a comebacker Wednesday, blew by Crystal City on Thursday for an emphatic dub at home.

Owen Tarry continued his two-way dominance for the Crusaders, grabbing the win (for the second consecutive day, mind you) while racking up two hits offensively.

Oran softball (1-0) opened its season hot on Thursday with a dominant win over Bernie, keeping the Mules from getting warm and putting away the visitors with some home cooking.

Meanwhile, Advance softball (3-0) kept that undefeated record intact with a fierce victory against Delta (1-2), only narrowly out-hitting the 'Cats but capitalizing offensively.

Mya Gillespie unloaded on a pitch for a 3-run homer for Delta to give it life, but never enough to overcome a 9-run opening from for the Hornets.
