It was a fun Friday in Southeast Missouri as some power matchups resulted in some crazy results, including two of the top baseball teams in the area dueling.

Scott City and Meadow Heights met on the Rams' home turf, and the hosts narrowly outdid the Panthers in a shutout effort to keep that big streak alive.

Scott City (21-1) made it 17 consecutive wins with a four-pitcher shutout over seven against Meadow Heights (9-6) in a battle of some of the area's best small schools.

The Rams scored all three of their runs between the second and third innings, led by a two-hit effort from Lane Miller, doubling while Lane Holder tripled.

Meadow Heights actually outhit the Rams, with Ransom Grindstaff singling twice while drawing a walk.

Blake Wilburn came away with the win for SC, allowing just one hit over the first three innings while holding the Panthers scoreless.

Jackson Gloth got save credit, pitching the final two outs and shutting the door on Meadow Heights.

Scott City (11-5) got the best of Woodland (10-6) in a big regional softball showdown, using some late fireworks to grab a big win at home.

The Rams scored eight runs between the fourth and fifth innings to get far in front and kept it there the rest of the game.

Lily Elders' three-hit night, doubling three times, drove in an impressive four runs in the matchup while Journey Black got a pair of singles and an RBI.

Mackenzie Lawless got the win in the circle, allowing 10 hits but just one earned run over five innings of work.

Makayla Altenthal's three hits led the way for the Cardinals, doubling once while Brooklyn Barks homered once while hitting twice, combining with Allyssa Massa's two RBIs for a team-total three.

Cape Central (7-15) got its biggest win of the year with an 18-run win and a shutout over Vashon in wood-bat play.

The Tigers only hit five times while scoring 18, drawing 11 walks and four hit-by-pitches as Zade Hickey led the Tiger offense with a double and four RBIs.

Ayden McGuire followed close behind Hickey, singling and walking and finishing the game with three RBIs.

Hickey also got the win on the mound, pitching the first two runs scoreless without a single baserunner allowed before Zach Dowdy shut the door late.

Oran baseball (9-4) continued its beatdown tour with a crushing win at the SEMO Conference's Notre Dame (10-8) on Friday afternoon.

Commanding the matchup with a five-run sixth inning, Kole Burger's two-hit day led Oran to an impressive offensive outing.

Rylan Mills had a big contribution off the hitters' column, drawing a pair of walks while driving in two runs. Oran drew 10 walks in the win.

Gabe Dirnberger pitched six innings for the Eagles, allowing two runs on four hits and three walks, striking out five Bulldogs.

Dirnberger earned the victory for Oran after Nolan Loper finished the job with the final three outs.

Brycen Clark and TJ Bolen each singled twice for the Bulldogs. Notre Dame finished with six hits and five walks, but never could consistently turn those runners into runs.

__BB: Jackson 2, Fox 1__

Jackson (15-5) knocked off a tough Fox team on the road on Friday, scoring runs in the first and seventh innings to alpha-and-omega itself to victory.

Cooper Rhodes reached base three times, hitting once and walking twice while Owen Osborne hit once and drove in a run on a late Warrior error.

Fox got the win against Fox, funnily enough, as senior Adrian Fox pitched five innings without an earned run, allowing six hits but demonstrating control as he struck out five.

Brynson Garcia closed out the matchup with a scoreless two, perhaps having his own argument for the scorekeeper's win with just one hit over six outs of work, striking out another three.

__BB: Sikeston 14, Chaffee 2__

Baseball is a weird game, and Sikeston proved that on Friday afternoon.

Against the previously winless Sikeston Bulldogs, Chaffee (15-3) couldn't catch a break in a relentless Bulldog effort.

Peyton Mitchell led the way for Sikeston with two hits and an RBI, while Pierce Baker and Keane Atkins Jr. each hit once and combined for five RBIs.

Nathaniel Ault Jr. got the win with five innings of two-run ball, earning one run on three walks and four walks.

Carson Spies got the Red Devils' lone RBI, doubling once as he was a bright spot on a tough day for the Chaffee offense.
