For the third consecutive day, play in Southeast Missouri was shortened due to weather concerns, but don't tell the Stoddard County Athletic Association teams that.

Advance and Woodland softball got into one of the tightest battles of the season, and despite the Hornets winning tight, Woodland made a big statement on Thursday.

It took a walk-off effort, but Advance (13-2) scored three in the bottom of the seventh to rally from down two to grabbing the regulation winner.

Addison Carlton's three hits, one for a triple, let the Hornets in hitting while Rylee Roper's solo homer drove in a big run.

Carlton threw all seven innings, earning three runs while striking out four to grab the late win.

Laci Detjen hit thrice for the Cardinals with Makayla Altenthal and Allyssa Davis each hit twice.

Rhodie Long threw a strong game herself, throwing 6.1 innings for the Cards and earning just three of seven runs allowed in the loss.

When these teams play, it always seems to end up being a thriller.

Leopold (5-6) got a repeat score of the Oak Ridge invite as it edged out Delta (1-15) in a matchup that went all the way down to the end.

Delta scored three in the sixth to cut the deficit to just three, but the Wildcats of Leopold did just enough to hold off the feisty Bobcats for their fifth win of the year.
