Following a Wednesday downpour, it was a quiet Thursday in the area as just a handful of teams contended in a typically packed slate.

For Scott City baseball (15-1), it became 11 wins in a row as the Rams eked out a walk-off 3-2 victory against the Kelly Hawks on Thursday night.

Tied at 2-all in the bottom of the seventh, Gavin Venable's ground ball couldn't be fielded by the Hawks as Lawson Graff came in to score the winner.

It's been a mixed bag for the Kelly Hawks (6-5) this season, but holding Scott City, one of the top teams in the area, to just three hits is a huge win for that program.

Levi Senn got all three hits for Scott City in the victory, going 3-for-4 at the plate while Venable's walk-off served as the Rams' only RBI on Thursday.

Michael Dollins and Reece Eftink both got hits for the Hawks, but they only put two hits and two runs on the board as they fell just short.

In what was a crazy local story, Dexter played a game at Chaffee before going across the county border and playing at Cape Central just an hour later.

Losing both, it was first Chaffee (14-1) that could extend its own win streak to eight with a 5-1 throttling of the Bearcats, a SEMO Conference squad, on home turf.

The Red Devils put three runs across in the fourth, led in hitting by Kade Atkins and Kamden Little, both with two hits.

Carson Spies threw a gem for the Devils, throwing 6.1 innings as the starter. Earning the win, he surrendered five hits and two walks but held the 'Cats to just one run while striking out five.

Dexter then ping-ponged across the area to Cape Central, where the Tigers (4-14) got their first victory since their season opener in a 6-4 win over the Bearcats.

Cape Central itself played a doubleheader, hosting Marion, Illinois, in a 13-1 loss, but rebounded strongly for a big league win at home.

Dexter struck first, grabbing single wins in the first and third to build a 2-run lead but the Tigers' four-run third gave them all the momentum they needed.

Caden Chenoweth and Hayden Bowers both finished with two-hit nights for the Tigers, with Bowers driving in a pair on his inside-the-park homer in the fifth inning.

Jackson Witvoet did enough to get the win for Cape Central in the Dexter game, pitching 5.1 tough innings with four hits and three walks along with four hit-by-pitches.

But those innings saw him earn just two runs, and he struck out seven Bearcats to boot as he commanded the Tigers to their fourth win of the year.

Notre Dame hosted Greenville for a big regional tilt, and the Bulldogs pulled through for a 6-3 victory that saw a lot of runners left on the basepaths.

The Bulldogs scored five runs in the first two innings, doing most of their damage early to put the game out of Greenville's reach.

Logan Landewee and TJ Bolen both had two hits in the victory, with Landewee's sixth-inning triple helping to add the insurance Notre Dame was looking for.

For Greenville, just four guys accounted for all eight hits as the offense went a little hot-and-cold in the loss.

Cooper Sturgeon, William Friley, Trey Porter and Talan McDaniel each had two hits, helping to spark the offense as the leadoff and 3-4-5 hitters heated up but the rest ran cold.

Jack Evans started the day for the Bulldogs, earning the win after 4.0 innings of three-hit, one-walk ball while hitting three batters and surrendering two earned runs.

He handed the ball off to Hunter Bonham, who shut the Bears down from there with 3.0 innings without surrendering a single score for Greenville on its rally back.

Jackson baseball (12-3), still riding the highs from a crazy spell last week, put the hammer down on Sikeston with a 12-2 rout on Thursday afternoon.

The Indians got to do it in walk-off fashion, too, with a sixth-inning error from Sikeston bringing in the game-winning run to seal the mercy-rule conclusion.

Taking the conference victory, Cooper Rhodes' three hits propelled Jackson to the win while Waylon Hale, Jaiden Glency and Caleb Nenninger each had two hits.

Hale and Nenninger each had a double in the victory, with Nenninger driving in a game-high four RBIs after his three-run single in the fifth.

Adrian Fox earned the win for Jackson, throwing a very impressive 4.0 frames with just one hit and one walk, striking out three Bulldogs while holding them scoreless.

Sikeston scratched off two between the fifth and sixth, led by RBI singles from Rush Ault and Connor Wicker to inch the Bulldogs closer.
