Missouri reserve forward Dandridge plans to leave team

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Reserve forward Glen Dandridge says he is leaving the Missouri basketball team after three disappointing seasons with the Tigers.

Dandridge, a 6-foot-6, 225-pound junior, told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch for a story Wednesday he has left the team but plans to remain at Missouri through the end of the summer. Team officials declined comment.

"I'm staying here to finish the semester and summer school," Dandridge said.

Hobbled by injuries to his foot and ankle, Dandridge saw limited playing time in 18 games this past season. He averaged 1.4 points and less than one rebound a game. For his career, the Goochland, Va., native averaged 2.2 points over 54 games.

A prep standout at Mt. Zion Christian Academy in Durham, N.C., Dandridge failed to match expectations at Missouri.

He has one year of eligibility remaining and would have to sit out a season before playing should he transfer to another Division I school. Dandridge could play immediately at a Division II school.

Dandridge's departure frees one scholarship for next season.
