The first came off Lanson DeBrock (0-1) after a leadoff walk. After a bunt single and a walk, Chad Bogenpohl relieved. A fielder's choice gave Memphis a 4-3 lead and with two out Memphis belted its second home run of the inning for a 6-3 advantage.

Southeast responded with a one-out two-run homer in the top of the ninth inning by Charlie Marino to cut the lead to 6-5. After Memphis changed pitchers, Darin Kinsolving walked, but the runner was stranded as Robert Kern struck out and Kyle Yount flied out to end the game.
