The MedAssets entry used a big second-week push to close in on the Corporate Games Division 2 championship in the annual athletic competition for area companies.

MedAssets placed first in bowling, poker and relay races earlier this week and opened a 90-point gap on Yellow Book in the overall standings heading into Wednesday's events.

The Corporate Games, a two-week, Olympic-style competition with athletic and recreational events, is sponsored by the Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department.

The event continue tonight with dodgeball and concludes Friday with trivia and a mystery night.

MedAssets this week added second-place finish in flag football, earning 170 points over five events while second-place Yellow Book scored 90.

MedAssets had 420 points heading into Wednesday's swimming events. Yellow Book had 330, Big River Telephone had 270, Montgomery Bank had 265, Extra Hands had 160 and Division of Youth Services had 135.

In Division 1, Procter & Gamble Orange team had built a 70-point lead with 430 points. The team also had a strong week with wins in bowling, relay races and hotshot basketball.

The City of Cape Girardeau was second with 360 points, and P&G Red was third with 330 points. Southeast Missouri Hospital was back at 210 with the Southeast Missourian/Concord Printing and the Delta Road Warriors tied with 200.
