The Meadow Heights boys basketball team can use this week to make up for the disappointment of a fourth-place finish in last week's Mississippi Valley Conference tournament.

The Panthers, unbeaten in conference play thus far, had the top seed in the conference tournament but finished 0-2 in the event after a first-round bye.

Meadow Heights took the first step toward some revenge Tuesday night by beating tournament runner-up Oak Ridge 86-79 in Patton. They get a chance to knock off the tournament champ on Friday night at Marquand.

Terry Wagner poured in 26 points with five 3-points for the Panthers (12-7 overall, 4-0 in the MVC standings). Anthony Bollinger added 19 points, and Nathan Revelle scored 12, all on 3-pointers. Heath Fulton added eight points and 13 rebounds.

Lance Felter led Oak Ridge with 25 points. Austin Morrison added 24 and Austin Hahs scored 12 for the Bluejays (8-12).

On a night when neither team could seem to get a shot to go down, Dexter managed to push ahead a little each quarter, then capitalized from the free-throw line in the final minutes of play to earn a victory at Bell City.

The win left the regular season Stoddard County Activities Association Conference in a three-way tie for the title. Dexter, Bell City and Advance all finished regular season play with 6-1 conference records.

Dexter shot 43 percent (20 of 47) from the floor, but Bell City struggled even more, hitting a dismal 30 percent (16 of 53).

Dexter led 36-27 heading into the final period of play and built the lead to 47-31 on a basket by Anthony Elfrink. From then on, it was a battle of free throws as both teams went to the charity strip for a combined 25 free throws.
