PATTON, Mo. -- In a power matchup pitting two of the premier high school volleyball teams in Southeast Missouri, Meadow Heights continued its sensational season by knocking off visiting Jackson 15-13, 6-15, 15-9 Thursday night.
The Lady Panthers improved to 18-1 while the Lady Indians fell to 11-3-2.
"It was a really good match," said Meadow Heights coach Erin Hoffman. "We're having a very good season and hopefully we can keep it going."
Holly Boyd had a big night for the Lady Panthers with 11 kills and eight blocks. Jami Fulton had 22 assists, four blocks and six digs; Tessa Bollinger contributed seven kills and four blocks; and Ashley Brune added four kills and five digs.
"Holly was incredible," said Hoffman. "And Tessa was hurt and missed the third game, but Hanna James came in for her and did great job. She had three kills and played really well all around."
For Jackson, Jenna Leet had eight kills and 13 digs while Andrea Koeper had seven kills, 12 blocks, three assists and two digs. Also for the Lady Indians, Jennifer Mesey had four kills, 10 blocks and four assists; Jessica Koeper contributed 13 assists, five kills and five blocks; and Erin Hartman added 11 assists, 10 digs and two aces.
"We're still working on our consistency, but Meadow Heights is a very good team," said Jackson coach Nancy Ellis.
Meadow Heights also won the JV match 15-13, 15-9.
Leopold 15-7-15
Zalma 2-15-8
LEOPOLD, Mo. -- Leopold raised its record to 9-3-3 by winning a three-set match against Zalma.
Holly Jansen led the Lady Wildcats with 13 kills and six blocks while Courtney Wesbecher had 10 kills. Other Leopold contributors were Jessica Bollinger (five kills, seven blocks); Kyla Horrell (five kills, three aces); Wendy Vandeven (15 assists); and Laura Jansen (six assists).
Zalma's JV posted a 12-15, 15-7, 15-10 victory.
Perryville 15-15
Grandview 8-0
HILLSBORO, Mo. -- Perryville moved to 6-9 by grabbing an easy victory.
Andrea Buerck had assists and six digs for the Lady Pirates, who got five kills and four blocks from Natalie Bohnert; five kills from Katie Kutz; five service points from Cindy Rhyne; and three aces from Crystal Thieret.
Grandview's JV triumphed 15-5, 15-1.
De Soto 17-15
St. Vincent 15-12
PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- St. Vincent fell to 8-7-4 with a hard-fought loss to De Soto.
Becky Kirn had seven kills while Danielle Sutterer added five to key St. Vincent's attack.
De Soto's also won the JV match 15-9, 15-8.
Dexter 15-15
Bell City 8-13
BELL CITY -- Bell City is now 4-10-4 after Dexter posted a straight-set triumph.
Whitney Abner had nine service points and six assists for the Lady Cubs while Katie Spears contributed five kills and six digs.
Dexter's JV won 15-3, 15-4.
SOFTBALL
Cape Central 2, Poplar Bluff 0
Holly Schnurbusch pitched a shutout as Central improved its record to 15-5.
Schnurbusch allowed four hits, struck out three and walked two.
The Lady Tigers, who had five hits, scored both their runs in the first inning. Amber Voerg delivered an RBI double and Jessica McDonald had an RBI single.
"We're having a good season. I can't complain so far, but the big tests will be coming up," said Central coach Amy Blattel, referring to the district tournament that will be held in a couple of weeks.
Central won the JV game 8-3 behind the pitching of Megan Goncher.
Notre Dame 9, St. Vincent 4
PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Notre Dame is now 13-7 after easing past St. Vincent.
Ramona Blankenship pitched six innings for the win. She allowed three runs and three hits while fanning two and walking one. Mika Williamson hurled the final frame, giving up two hits and one run.
Sara Berkbigler, Ashley Reinagel and Laura Weismueller all had two of the Lady Bulldogs' 10 hits.
Jean Brown had two of St. Vincent's five hits. Julie Hager was the losing hurler.
Notre Dame's JV is now 10-5 after a 13-7 triumph.
Perryville 3, Hillsboro 2
PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- In a thrilling 12-inning affair, Perryville pushed across two runs in the bottom of the 12th to prevail and capture its first Jefferson County Conference title.
"The conference has always had about four real strong teams and we've come up just short before," said Perryville coach Lynn O'Neal, whose squad is 13-5 overall and 7-1 in league play. "I'm real proud of the girls. It's a nice accomplishment."
Megan Narrow pitched all 12 innings for the victory. She allowed nine hits, with three strikeouts and four walks.
Jenna Schuessler and Stacy Baer each had two of the Lady Pirates' eight hits.
The game was tied 1-1 heading into the 12th. Hillsboro went ahead with a run in the top of the frame, but the Lady Pirates won it in the bottom half. Amanda Nuyt scored the tying run on a ground ball while Kate Bohnert's single plated Jamie Martin with the game-winner.
BOYS SOCCER
Jackson 10, Farmington 0
JACKSON, Mo. -- Jackson got goals from seven different players as the Indians raised their record to 7-3-1.
Justin Vines, Michael Schuette and Matt Buttrey all scored two goals while Jon Coleman, Todd Shelton, Patrick Kohm and Matt Neal added one apiece.
Kohm had four assists while Schuette, Neal and Matt Gordon each contributed two. Goalkeeper Austin McDowell recorded the shutout.
Jackson's JV prevailed 4-0 behind goals from Mitchell Casteel, Stuart Knowlan, Trent Forrester and Trae Brotherton.
GIRLS TENNIS
Jackson 9, Dexter 0
DEXTER, Mo. -- Jackson continued its undefeated season as the Lady Indians won their 11th dual match by blanking a solid Dexter squad in a contest that was closer than the score indicates.
"We had some tough matches," said Jackson coach Linda Adams. "Dexter has a good team."
Jackson also won the JV match 8-1.

The revenge tour for Central's long-suffering opponents continued as Farmington dropped the Lady Tigers' dual-match record to 1-8. Prior to this season, Central had won 50 consecutive duals.
Central JV, however, did remain undefeated with a 14-2 victory. The JV Lady Tigers are 9-0.
