The arm of Carson McDaniel led the way as he threw a perfect game in the Jackson Indians’ 13-0 win over the Notre Dame Bulldogs on Tuesday at Notre Dame Regional High School.

McDaniel was able to use his fastball to cruise through the Bulldogs’ lineup.

“That’s what (Baden Hackworth) was calling,” McDaniel said. “We were just trying to work the outside corner.”

Coming into his start, McDaniel said he wasn’t feeling great about his warm-up, but things turned around quickly.

“Normally, when I’m throwing bad I don’t think I’m going to throw good,” McDaniel said. “I feel like (tonight) will boost my confidence.”

Indians coach Josh Roach said McDaniel’s consistency was what made him effective.

“He did the same thing he’s done all year,” Roach said. “He got ahead of hitters early in counts and just pounded strikes.”

While McDaniel shined on the mound, the bats of the Indians got going early and didn’t look back.

“Offensively, we have guys that are going to score, “ Roach said. “We were very disciplined (tonight).”

The 13-0 win was the 5th time in the last 6 games that the Jackson offense has exploded for 10+ runs.

“It’s extremely important,” Roach said. “We know we have the team that can do that. We should score a lot of runs with the guys we have. We really hammered base running this year and we’ve really noticed a huge difference. We always have a guy on second or third base because they’re doing a great job of reading pitchers and getting good jumps.”

Notre Dame (2-2) will be back in action at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 5 when the Bulldogs host Dexter at Notre Dame Regional High School,

Jackson (9-2) will play its third game in three days on Wednesday, April 5 when the Indians travel to take on Vianney at 4:30 p.m.

“Vianney is going to be a good test for us,” Roach said. “We’re excited to go get after it.”
