Malden track ties for first place in girls C2D1 championships

Malden tied with Jefferson for first place in the C2D1 girls' championship on Saturday at Scott City High School. The top four finishers advance to the sectional round.

Malden sent three relay races to the next round. Angela Dobbins took the district title in the long jump (16-05.75) and high jump. She also finished second in the 100m dash (12.53). Antwanasia Bloniarz-Smoot took the district title in the shot put (36-08.25), placed third in the 200m (26.53), and finished fourth in the 100m (13.08).

Scott City’s Allysa Pruitt won the district title in the 100m hurdles (16.68). The senior also advanced to sectionals in three other individual events with a second place finish in the triple jump (33-01.00), a fourth place finish in the long jump (15-10.25), and a fourth place finish in the 300m hurdles (49.67).

Chaffee’s Rayney Held placed fourth in the javelin with a distance of 30.69m, and Madi Pobst placed fourth in the discus throw (26.69m) to advance to sectionals.

The Woodland 4x800m relay finished in third place. London Cureton placed second in the pole vault (7-06.00) and Harlie Hinkle finished second in discus (99-11.00) and third in the shot put (35-02.00).

Saxony Lutheran sent the 4x800m relay to sectionals with a fourth place finish (11:52.08). Rebecca Yunck finished third in the javelin with a 102-08.00 mark.
