"We played a lot better. The kids played hard and it was a total team effort."Jason Means scored 17 for Zalma. Chris Canoy added 11 and Ronnie Moit had 10 for the Bulldogs.

Fredericktown 72, Herculaneum 59FREDERICKTOWN -- The Black Cats outscored Herculaneum 24-8 in the fourth quarter to pick up the win.

Junior Justin Hall provided 31 points and was the only player in double figures for Fredericktown.

Fredericktown led 35-29 at halftime, but led by just one going into the final quarter. The Black Cats were able to build on their lead early in the fourth then Fredericktown proceeded to hit 11 of 13 free throws in the fourth quarter.

GIRLSScott Co. Central 58, Greenville 43MORLEY -- After not playing a full year, Scott County Central's Vontrice Blackmon came out and dropped 24 points on Greenville in leading the Bravettes to a come-from-behind win.

Blackmon, who was ruled ineligible last season after moving from Cape Central back to Scott Central, also had seven steals.

Brandy Miller scored 14 points for Scott Central and Lakeya Turner had 13.

Scott Central trailed by five at halftime but came out in the third quarter and outscored Greenville 19-2."The first half, we weren't getting down the floor defensively and we weren't running the press right and offensively we weren't taking good shots," Scott Central coach Semona Penrod. "We came out more explosive in the second half. There was all the difference in the world in the third quarter."Farmington 64, Perryville 58PERRYVILLE -- The Perryville Lady Pirates rallied from an 11-point lead at halftime to regain the lead late in the fourth quarter, but couldn't hold on as the Farmington Lady Knights held off Perryville with good free throw shooting.

Sophomore Amanda Nuyt hit her third consecutive 3-pointer -- she ended up with 14 points -- to give the Lady Pirates a 52-51 lead with about 2:30 left in the game.

But Farmington made 11 of 12 free throws in the fourth quarter to pull away late."We came out in the third quarter and played tougher defense," said Perryville coach Vicky Lohman. "We came back in the third and in the fourth, we traded baskets. We had to foul them in the end and they just knocked them down."We played much better than we did last night (in a loss to Notre Dame)."Farmington made 14 of its 18 free throws for the game.

Jamie Amberger provided a game-high 16 points for Perryville, while Stacy Baer scored 14 points.

Jackson, Poplar Bluff to meet in JV title gameJackson and Poplar Bluff will meet in the finals of Cape Central's junior varsity tournament tonight at 7:30 after posting wins.

Jackson handed Central a 33-32 loss, while Poplar Bluff pounded Notre Dame 54-24.

Alex Wieser scored a game-high 11 points for Cape Central.

In loser's bracket action, Sikeston clobbered New Madrid 42-24 and Farmington knocked off Perryville 51-23.

Central will play Notre Dame at 6 tonight for third place.

Farmington and Sikeston will play for fifth place at 7:30 and New Madrid and Perryville will play for seventh at 6.
