The struggles for the Southeast Missouri State softball team continued Friday.

Southeast saw its losing streak reach 11 games as the Redhawks fell 2-1 and 8-2 in an Ohio Valley Conference doubleheader at Tennessee-Martin.

The Redhawks are 12-19 overall and 3-8 in OVC play as they remained eighth in the nine-team league. UTM improved to 24-17 and 8-7.

Southeast dropped the opener in heartbreaking fashion as UTM's Jenny Bain belted a walk-off home run with one out in the seventh inning.

Freshman Giana Zimmerman was the tough-luck loser. She allowed five hits and one earned run while striking out nine and walking four in 6 1/3 innings.

Sophomore Nicole Troncoso and junior Elise Sperakos both had two of Southeast's nine hits.

Freshmen Renee Kertz and Shelby Stein both had three of Southeast's seven second-game hits -- Stein finished the day with four hits -- but UTM romped.

Sophomore Whitney Dupuis gave up six hits and six earned runs in 2 1/3 innings for the loss.

Southeast outhit UTM 16-13 on the day, but the Redhawks had just one extra-base hit, a double. The Skyhawks belted three home runs and added two doubles.

The squads will conclude their three-game series today. UTM will attempt to sweep a series from Southeast for the first time ever.
