Notre Dame junior Lauren Reinagel, who set four school pitching records this fall, was named to the Class 3 all-state softball team for the second straight season.

Reinagel, a first-team pitcher, set individual Notre Dame season records for no-hitters (nine), shutouts (20), strikeouts (254) and ERA (0.28) this fall.

She posted a 27-1 record in 28 starts, helping the Bulldogs take second place in Class 3.

Joining Reinagel on the Class 3 first team was her cousin, senior center fielder Erika Reinagel, who batted .424 and stole 26 bases.

Bulldogs shortstop Jane Morrill also was selected to the first team as an infielder after batting .396 with two home runs and 34 RBIs.

Notre Dame senior Britney Schott was selected to the Class 3 second team as an outfielder.

The Kelly softball team, which finished second in Class 2, had three players who were selected to the all-state team.

Katee Moore made the Class 2 first team after batting .463 with 35 RBIs and 16 extra-base hits, including six triples, heading into the state tournament.

Junior Danielle Dock also made the first team as a pitcher, posting a 15-4 record this season. She had a 0.99 ERA through district play.

Kelly senior Casey Kern received Class 2 second-team honors as an infielder.

All-state volleyball

Scott City junior Brooke Simpson missed time during each of her first two high school volleyball seasons because of an ankle injury. But she remained healthy this fall to lead the Rams to a 37-2-3 record and a second-place finish in Class 2 behind Hermann.

Simpson, who recorded 336 kills, 240 digs and 92 blocks through district play, was selected to the Class 2 all-state first team as a middle hitter.

Scott City freshman middle hitter Katie Hogan joined Simpson on the first team. She recorded 161 kills, 304 digs and 108 blocks through district play.

Scott City outside hitter Anna Laitinen, a foreign exchange student from Finland, was selected to the Class 2 all-state second team, while junior right-side hitter and setter Katie Diebold earned all-state honorable mention.

Bell City was the other local school to make the state final four. The Cubs finished third in Class 1.

Freshman Jasmine Johnson was a big reason for the Cubs' success, recording 461 kills and 500 digs. She was named to the Class 1 all-state first team.

Bell City setter Codie Lancaster was selected to the all-state second team. She had 826 assists this season, and 2,871 assists over her career.

Leopold's Casey Bucher, a senior middle hitter, made the Class 1 all-state second team. The Wildcats lost to Bell City in the Class 1 quarterfinals.

Central senior Wendi Zickfield, who has signed to play volleyball next year at Murray State, earned Class 4 all-state honorable mention.

Football awards

The all-state football teams have not been selected yet, but the all-region teams from the coaches association have been released.

Blake Peiffer was named defensive MVP for the Class 5/6 Southeast Missouri region.

Peiffer led all Southeast Missouri players in tackles this season. He had 150 as of Nov. 14.

Central running back Cantrell Andrews won the offensive MVP in the Class 5/6 Southeast region.

Andrews was the seventh leading rusher in Southeast Missouri with 1,121 yards on 203 carries. He averaged 5.52 yards per carry and 112.1 per game. He scored 14 touchdowns.

Jackson coach Van Hitt was named the Class 5/6 Southeast region coach of the year. Hitt was in his first year leading the Indians after serving as a Jackson assistant coach since 1979. Hitt led the Indians to an 8-6 record and a berth in the Class 5 semifinals, but the Indians lost their semifinal game to Hazelwood East 33-6.

The only local player to earn a spot on the Class 2 Southeast Missouri all-region team was Scott City running back Jacob Campbell as a first-team selection. Perryville had five players make the Class 3 Southeast Missouri all-region team. Senior Brent Roth was chosen as a first-team wide receiver/tight end and linebacker. Senior Ben Prevallet was selected as a first-team kicker. Senior Josh Perreault made it as a second-team running back. Senior Logan Franklin made it as a second-team defensive lineman. Senior Garrett Leible was selected as an honorable mention defensive lineman.
